FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Royal Visit to Channel Islands Atlas OPS used for Police control Royal Visit. May 2005 Channel Islands: Atlas OPS was used for briefing and command and control of the visit of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to celebrate 60 years since the liberation of the Islands from Nazi occupation.
Queen meets the crowds The Police Control room was staffed by officers from Guernsey and Dorset Police, and was used to control Police resources and maintain a full event log. The system was also used during the event to brief POLSA searchers.
Atlas OPS being used in Silver Control Main control of the Atlas OPS software utilised large Touch Screen Plasma display monitors. These were also linked into the CCTV system that was deployed around the main event area. This allowed commanders in the control room to look at both maps and live images. Following the Queens departure, the system continued to manage other events which included a cavalcade of WWII vehicles, military bands and war veterans.
