CBRN Study Days

July 8th - study day success:

Ultra Electronics APL hosted their third CBRN Study day (see below for details) at Glanford Park home of Scunthorpe United Football Club.

Delegates were once again very positive in their response to this 'awareness' day.  The audience contained a good mix of representatives from emergency services, local government, health service, prisons, water authorities, and even some visitors from the Belgian Armed Forces.

July 8th - Glanford Park

Anyone interested in future CBRN awareness days should contact Russ Egan via email training@atlasops.com to register their interest.

Overview of the day

  • Weather and the toxic hazard that will develop downwind of a CBRN terrorist device

  • A terrorist nuclear weapon in the range of 1-5 kilotons, covering radiation levels and damage assessment.

  • A radiological dispersion device RDD including predicted downwind distances

  • CBR hazards inside buildings.

The aim of the day is to educate and inform all those involved in dealing with terrorist incidents about the importance of weather for CBRN events and the problems associated with the movement of the hazard inside buildings.

This will provide attendees information useful when writing procedures and guidelines for CBRN events within their own organisations.

Who should attend:

Members of the Emergency Planning Society

CBRN emergency planning teams

Incident managers

Other CBRN specialists and professionals
