AIMS Local Government User Group

The AIMS Local Government user group held its inaugural meeting in Southport in February 2007

February 2007 : The first AIMS (Atlas Incident Management System) user group meeting was held in Southport, England earlier this month.

Southport Town Hall - location for the first AIMS UG meeting

The user group will act as a forum to facilitate best practice, share information, and help to formulate future product enhancements and developments.

The initial meeting was viewed as a great success by all those who attended, with may examples of how the system was being used by the ever increasing Local Government user community.  Already the system, which was selected by a government funded working party in 2006 as the 'preferred tool for incident management', has become the industry standard.

With 40 Local Government agencies already signed up to the system, and many more hot on their heels, the success of the AIMS product has been breathtaking, and quite unprecedented.

The range of users is already very broad including the largest local government in Europe, major cities, down to smaller boroughs and districts.  This only goes to confirm the products suitability for all sizes of organisation

Ultra Electronics APL Director Dale Atkins says

"It was great to get the first AIMS user group meeting off the ground.  These events will only go from strength to strength, and are something APL warmly embrace.  We view the relationship with our customers very much as a partnership, and one that will develop and help us to enhance the quality of our products and services.

One of the most pleasing aspects of the day for me was the unanimous praise for the product so far, and its ease of use from a user perspective.  I can assure everyone who uses the system now, and in the future that we as a company will not rest on our laurels, but will continue to enhance and develop our products to maintain their market leading tag"

APL were joined on the day by representatives from Ultra Electronics Datel - a strategic business partner who demonstrated their secure hosting capabilities of the AIMS system up to 'restricted' level.  This was of great interest to the group as it allows multiple agencies to share information during any incident.

Note: The next scheduled user group meeting is in Nottingham in June 2007
